James C. Byrne was born on the 10th of May 1974 in Cork, Ireland. Brought up in the town Fermoy which has the River Blackwater flowing throuh it. Five minutes in any direction from the town and you will find beautiful landscape and any number of horse farms or studs along with cattle and sheep.

James is a self taught artist, he works with pencil, charcoal and mainly acrylic paint on canvas which is varnished on completion.

His work has narrowed and focused on Equine, Abstract, Expresionism and Figurative. Here he believes he has a balance for the different energies we all experience and one form can inspire and inform another. With the equine works which started out with the wild mustang and of late thanks to the invite to one of the local horse farm The Grove to observe and capture the athletic form and grace of these beautiful horses at various stages of their development, being close enough to touch them is quietely dramatic.

With the chaos of energy from the abstract works to the quite careful nearly moody energy that just hums beneath the surface with the equine works. It's like a casual walk compared to an out and out sprint for your life.

The one constant in the various works is emotion in all variations in all scenarios. As his equine works progress it is likely that it will feed a body of abstract equine works in a fututre date yet unknown to the artist, as for now he is content to immerse himself in this new opportunity and access to observe this noble, elegant creature, the horse.

James has his work in a number of places to be viewed and experienced, some of which are listed below and is open for arranged viewings of his works. Just use the contact form on this site and he will be happy to hear from you, and more so to discuss his works with you and answer any questions you may have. It is always a joy to discuss the works in progress or completed after all. Paintings are for everyone, if it catches your eye ask yourself why and and that is all you need to know about art. Why do i like that ? ... and there is your very own begining.

Enjoy and thank you for taking the time to view these works and read these words.
